3rd grade

The third graders take part in a PBL (project based learning) Unit each year in which they plan and host a Tea Party for their moms.

In Third grade our philosophy is to learn while having fun. Students are welcomed into an environment that fosters independence as well as a growth mindset. We read several class novels (Charlotte’s Web is a personal favorite) and build upon our writing skills across many genres of writing. Cursive is taught throughout the year, with students writing fluently in cursive by the end of the year. Multiplication and division are the highlights of third grade. Religion is directly taught and blended throughout the daily curriculum with an emphasis on Gospel Values, Saints, church history, and traditions. We dive into communities and local history, learning about William Hayward and the Ohlone tribe that once inhabited the Bay Area. Students love researching a Hayward Landmark and presenting their diorama to their classmates and school community. We work hard but love every minute of it~  For more information click here to visit Mrs. Silva's webpage.
